Help Make the Show Happen – And Be Part of the Tradition

The Grand River Antique Society is always looking for passionate, community-minded volunteers to help bring our annual events — especially our Antique Farm Show and Tractor Pull — to life. Whether you're interested in antique equipment, want to get involved in your community, or need volunteer hours for school, we have a role for you.

Teens, adults, families, and groups are all welcome. No experience needed — just a willingness to pitch in and have fun!

Why Volunteer?

  • Get hands-on with the behind-the-scenes action of one of Ontario’s most unique rural events

  • Earn high school volunteer hours (for teens)

  • Meet people, enjoy the outdoors, and be part of a fun, welcoming team

  • Support local heritage and community history

  • Help create an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages

  • Snacks and refreshments provided during setup days

Whether you’re a creative spirit, tractor enthusiast, or just someone who loves to help — we need you.

Volunteer Roles

There’s something for everyone! Some of the roles we need filled include:

During the Show:

  • Parking guides

  • Flag persons for tractor pulls

  • Kids’ Zone helpers

  • Corn table volunteers

  • General assistance and floaters

We also welcome artistic volunteers to help with signs, displays, decorations, and hands-on children's activities.

Setup Crew (Days Leading Up to the Event):

  • Paint lines and prepare display spaces

  • Erect shade tents and set up pylons

  • Move picnic tables, straw bales, and supplies

  • Put up fencing around the track

  • Retrieve club sled and supply wagon from storage

  • Weed whack and tidy the grounds

  • Hang directional signs and sponsor banners

  • Set up Kids’ Zone activity areas

After Show Clean-Up:

  • Take down shade tents

  • Empty garbage and recycling bins

  • General clean-up and teardown of event space

Work

Bees

In the weeks before the show, we’ll be hosting scheduled Work Bee Days — casual volunteer gatherings to help prepare the showgrounds.

Work Bees include:

  • Grounds preparation

  • Site cleanup and landscaping

  • Equipment setup

  • Shared refreshments and snacks

These days are announced in advance via:

  • This website

  • Our Facebook group page

  • Club email list

Bring your gloves, your friends, and your enthusiasm — it’s a great way to get involved even if you can’t volunteer during the show itself.
